India Post GDS Recruitment 2026 Notification Release Soon, Check Other Details 

In the first week of August 2026, the Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications, Government of India, will release the notification for the recruitment of Branch Postmaster, Assistant Branch Postmaster, and Gramin Dak Sevak under India Post, a postal system operated by the Department of Posts, for more than 25,000 vacancies. In January 2026, they released it for 28,636 positions, whose reservation details are inside the table.

Eligibility Criteria 

In order to apply for the India Post GDS (Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) Online Engagement Schedule-II

By July 2026, you are required to meet the educational qualification and age limit that we have come to. 

• You have passed the Class 10 (Secondary, Secondary School Leaving Certificate, Secondary School Certificate, or High School Leaving Certificate) Examination from any state-board- or central-board-recognised school and have studied the regional language subject.
• Your age shouldn’t be below 18 years and above 40 years.

If you are above the age of 40 years but belong to the OBC-NCL, SC, or ST category, you can claim age relaxation, which is 3 years and 5 years, respectively.

Application Fee

To apply for the India Post GDS Recruitment July 2026, you have to pay the application fee of 100 rupees. Note that the application fee is only applicable for male candidates who belong to the General, Other Backward Class, and Economically Weaker Section. 

All female aspirants and male individuals belonging to Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Caste, and Persons with Benchmark Disability are exempted from it. To deposit the amount, you can use a debit card, credit card, NET banking or UPI.

Selection Process 

The selection for the recruitment of BPM, ABPM, and GDS under India Post is done based on candidates’ performance in the qualifying examination in accordance with reservation rules. Notably, you will be shortlisted for the appointment only if you score in the Class 10 examination in your circle and meet or exceed the cut-off marks for your respective category.

Merit List 

After accepting the application form from the candidates, the Department of Posts prepares the merit list based on candidates’ performance in the qualifying examination. Notably, they release a separate merit list for each Indian Post circle. Also note that there won’t be only one merit list; they will release it in 3 to 4 rounds until the seats are full.

If you are shortlisted for appointment as BPM, ABPM, or GDS under India Post, you have to participate in the document verification, which is anticipated to take place within two weeks after the merit list. To participate in it, you have to carry the required documents, originals and Xerox copies.

Pay Scale 

If you are appointed as BPM, ABPM, or GDS under India Post, you will get a salary under the time-related continuity allowance (TRCA) system, whose details are available in the table.

Annually, the basic pay increases by 3%. In addition to basic pay, the personnel also get an applicable dearness allowance, notified by the Department of Posts.

To apply online for this recruitment drive, aspirants will have a time of two weeks. It is likely that the window to apply will be available from the first week of August to the third week of August 2026.
