The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission released two notifications for the recruitment of male and female constables under the Police Department, Government of Himachal Pradesh, and invited candidates to apply from July 10, 2026. The deadline for the same has now been extended to August 21, 2026; interested candidates can apply through the HPPSC’s official website.

Number of Vacancies
There are a total of 734 vacancies, including 491 for male constables and 243 for female constables. The table below carries the category-wise number of vacancies for each.

Eligibility Criteria
You have passed the Class 10 Examination from an HPBOSE, or CBSE-recognized school, and your age shouldn’t be below 18 or above 26 years. If you are above the age of 26 years, you can claim a relaxation of 3 years for candidates who belong to SC, ST, and OBC.
Application Fee
To apply, you have to pay the non-refundable application fee of 600 rupees whether you belong to any category. To pay it, you can use a debit card, credit card, NET banking, or UPI. The deadline to pay it is August 21, 2026. Ensure that you pay it by the due date; otherwise, you won’t be able to submit your application.
Selection Process
The selection process includes three stages, which are the physical standard test, physical efficiency test, and written examination. The first two will take place simultaneously; after clearing, you will take the last one. The commission will prepare a final selection list based on the written examination score.
PST & PET Details
The PST includes measures of height and chest, and the PET has running and jumping. Refer to the table below for details about each.

Exam Pattern
The written examination will take place in offline mode using the OMR sheet. They will ask a total of 90 MCQs, each of 1 mark, and there is also a provision of negative marking of 0.25 marks. The time duration is set to be 2 hours. The HPPSC has not yet made public the information about how many questions out of the total 90 will be from which subjects.
If you are appointed as a constable in the Himachal Pradesh police department, then the salary you will get will be under Level-2, whose starting basic pay is ₹20,200. Your net salary will be the basic pay along with dearness allowance and other benefits after deduction of taxes and pensions.
